Huddersfield Town Enterprise Academy

Huddersfield Town Enterprise Academy

Watch out for dates on our next HTEA event taking place in December 2011!

The Enterprise Academy is a focal point for businesses in the Yorkshire area to come together and exchange ideas, as well as learn new ones, regarding business practice and networking through a series of five events planned throughout the course of the season.  The Enterprise Academy is totally free of charge to business representatives and is open to all businesses. Town will be spreading the word about this new venture by utilising its ‘Enterprise Scouts’ – a set of local business people who are willing to voluntarily spread the word about the HTEA.  You can also become part of a LINKEDIN group which will allow everyone to discuss upcoming events and topics.

Huddersfield Town Commercial Director Sean Jarvis is the man behind the Enterprise Academy and commented:  “The aim of HTEA is to get new businesses involved with Huddersfield Town – ones from totally different walks of life.  “The Club has a growing reputation as a ‘hub’ for businesses in the Yorkshire area and the creation of the Enterprise Academy is further evidence that there is much more to Huddersfield Town than what goes on out on the pitch on a Saturday afternoon.  “The virtual networking sector is booming at the moment and this venture, along with the creation of our LINKEDIN group, is the next step for us.  “I hope and encourage everyone who can to come down to our first event in October – it will be a beneficial meeting for us all.”

Huddersfield Town Enterprise Academy Inaugural Event - Tuesday 12 October 2010

The inaugural meeting of the Huddersfield Enterprise Academy, supported by Grant Thornton and Chadwick Lawrence, was held today - and was heralded a 'great success' by Town's Commercial Director Sean Jarvis.  Designed to become a focal point for businesses to come together and exchange ideas in the Yorkshire area, the first ever HTEA meeting was an exciting affair with four high-profile speakers on offer.  The delegates registered free of charge to come to the Stadium over lunch and listen to Ian Marwood, a partner at leading financial and business advisors Grant Thornton, David Brown Managing Director Ian Farquhar and Kirklees College duo Principal Chris Sadler and Vice Principal for Corporate Services Melanie Brooke talk about all aspects of business life. All four speakers are pictured above.

Huddersfield Town's Commercial Director Sean Jarvis commented:  "I'd like to thank the four speakers and everyone who attended today for making the first ever meeting of the HTEA such a success.  "I'm certain that everyone left the Stadium with a host of new ideas that they can apply in their business lives and I already cannot wait for the next meeting."

Second Huddersfield Town Enterprise Academy Event - Tuesday 14 December 2010

The second meeting of the Huddersfield Town Enterprise Academy - sponsored by Chadwick Lawrence and Grant Thornton - took place in the Fantastic Media Suite at the Stadium on Tuesday – and attendees got to know a lot more about one of Huddersfield’s biggest companies.

John Chamberlin of Thornton + Ross delivered a presentation on the leading international pharmaceutical business and posed three challenges to the audience after describing the rise of several of the company’s leading brands – including Radian B, the brand proudly displayed on the Club’s away shirt!

Around 100 delegates took their seat at the Stadium after applying to join the HTEA free of charge and will have taken something valuable away from the afternoon.

Huddersfield Town's Commercial Director Sean Jarvis commented: "The second meeting of the Huddersfield Town Enterprise Academy was a superb success and I would like to thank John Chamberlin for giving such an engaging presentation; I certainly know more about Thornton + Ross now!  "Once again, the feedback from this meeting has shown me how useful the Academy is in providing delegates with a lot of really useful business information.  "This is just another step towards cementing Huddersfield Town's position as a hub for businesses in the Kirklees area and the next meeting is already being planned for 8 February."
